Average scores for different questions, e.g. reward, communication, group cohesion and job motivation, vary and this is further complicated by variation between different countries, occupations and business sectors. Without external comparisons, data interpretation can be misleading and may lead to inappropriate actions. For example, a good result in one industry sector might be comparatively poor in another. Therefore calibration is needed.

Corporate Spirit and This Is Ltd… provide an international airport sector benchmark, which enables client organisations to compare results within the industry. Consequently with the AirPeople™ survey organisations can view their own level of performance reliably with others doing similar work, which is a sensible frame of reference.

In addition to airport-specific benchmarks, AirPeople™ survey contains national norms for 26 countries and five different occupation type norms.This is very helpful for interpreting survey results on engagement as competition for staff often comes from local organisations.

A Global High Performance norm is also available to recognize top performance. This shows the limit to beat in order to qualify globally among the top 10 % of companies for each individual question.
